Project Overview

This project involved constructing and lining a farm pond at Ruman Farm in Arabsiyo using HDPE geomembrane to improve water storage for irrigation. The pond measures 14 m by 12 m with a depth of 1.5 m, giving a storage volume of about 252 m³, equivalent to roughly 1,260 Foosto of water. The main purpose of the damliner is to provide reliable, low-loss water storage to support the farm’s cropping activities throughout the dry periods.

Solution in Simple Terms

We excavated a 14 m × 12 m × 1.5 m pond and lined it with HDPE geomembrane to create a fully sealed water storage structure. The liner prevents seepage into the soil, keeps water levels stable, and makes the pond easier to clean and maintain. The finished pond can now safely hold about 252 m³ (1,260 Foosto) of water for irrigation use when needed.
